Domain FAQ

Contact us from this page
What is a Domain Name ?
A domain name is the basis for naming web sites and all other internet services. It is NOT a web site name or a URL – www.tnrglobal.com is our website but tnrglobal.com is a domain name.
Domain names are registered in a ‘doman name registry’ for legal purposes and recorded in the ‘domain name system’ for computer access over the internet.
Understanding Domain Renewal:
The Internet domain system charges a yearly fee for all domains, the exact amount is determined by the registrar. Your domain was initially paid for as part of your advertising contract with Thomas and that payment continues while you have an agreement with them. Once you cancel that agreement, you are responsible for that payment, and it must be made to TnR Global as your RSP (Registration Service Provider).
About Domain ‘Transfers’:
Just about every request we get from a new contact is to ‘transfer the domain’ or ‘get control of my domain’. This is rarely what you need. It is a general purpose phrase used because you haven’t determined what you really need yet or, have been given incorrect information.
If we have your domain name is in our database, it is being properly managed and we can help you define and do what you need.
Real goals:
– Renew my domain.
– Define email server to handle email for my domain.
– Define new web server.
– Define new name server so my new ISP can provide email and a web site.
Domains can not be transfered unless they are currently renewed.
The actual domain transfer process is explained here

Thank you for your continued business.

Other Domain Info

Note: All the tasks discussed below require that you take full responsibility for your domain, web server and email settings. As such we can not be responsible for any errors or loss of domain from these actions.
Changing Contact Emails: When we are managing a domain, the administrative and techincal emails must point to our servers, this also keeps you from getting the 1000’s of spams that end up getting sent to emails listed on the domain whois pages.
Transfers: To transfer your domain to another registrar:
(a) the domain must be current, check step 4 to make sure it is renewed,
and
(b) we must have received the “Legal information” per step 1.
If these have been done, send an email, to domacct@tnrglobal.com, 2-3 business days before you submit the transfer request including:
a) Domain name
b) Your name
c) New registry the transfer will come from
Once all these have been done, we will approve any transfer that has come to our admin mailboxes.
Here is an example of the steps in the Domain Transfer process
Username/password to Domain profile: Domains that have been registered as part of a Thomas advertising contract are part of a corporate bulk account. To provide you with direct access to the domain management function, we must split your domain to it’s own account, and this can take a few weeks to schedule.
To do this:
(a) the domain must be current, check step 4 to make sure it is renewed,
and
(b) we must have received the “Legal information” per step 1.
If these have been done, send an email, to domacct@tnrglobal.com including:
a) Domain name
b) Your name
c) A request to provide Username/password for your domain.
You will get an email when it has been done.
Thank you for your continued business.
